I do a fair bit of Tech Support for my family, their friends, and my friends.  However lately I've instituted a 'no house calls' rule for almost all of them.  They bring the machine to me, and I'll slowly get around to looking at it.  Or we can do it over the phone... yes I'm that lazy.  However, now I've found this unbelievable tool, send them the file, one click and I'm on their machine with full control.  No need to worry about routers and configuration, they just need an internet connection and the ability to use a mouse.  It is all based on VNC, which if you haven't heard of, and have ever wanted to access your machine remotely, check it out.

There's another tool now called Team Viewer that does the same thing. There's various modes you can use, too (filesharing, desktop view, etc). It's free for noncommercial use.
