Xbox 360
# Sunday, November 26, 2006

Well I decided to spoil myself a little, and I bought myself an Xbox 360.  After I recently played EA Sports NHL 07 for the PC and was totally disgusted, I pretty much gave up on PC gaming.  I'd heard so many good things about the Xbox 360, not just its gaming, but all of its entertainment centre functions as well.

Ever since I was a kid, I had a gaming console, Sega MasterSystem, NES, SNES, N64, and then I skipped a generation.  They have made some serious improvements since our N64.  Obviously the games are bigger, and prettier, but it is the little things that impress me about the Xbox 360.  The controllers are wireless, I can turn the console on and off from the controllers, and it can display pictures, play music and videos all found on my computer.

Needless to say I love the 360, Steph was a little unsure at first, but a Harry Potter game went a long way to changing her mind :)  Oh, and there was that time she chainsawed Graham in Gears Of War, that helped too.

November Update
# Sunday, November 26, 2006

Haven't posted since the start of the month so I figured it was time for an update.  I have been pretty busy at work all month, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the contract only has a few weeks left.

The wedding plans are coming along, we finally picked a resort and are now just trying to finalize a date.  We should know by the end of this week.

I had an unfinished room in the back of my basement which is now currently being turned into a nice office.  Everything is almost done, just finished putting on a coat of primer, really just paint and carpet left to do.

The Sad State of Our Most Sacred Holiday
# Friday, November 03, 2006

I was over at Casa Runham last night to hang out and make fun of the kids trick-or-treating.  I must say I was shocked!  Shocked I say!  What I saw was the saddest group of kids ever in the most uninspiring costumes ever.  When I dressed up as the guy from Scream (not sure I actually did, but play along) it was topical.  The movie had just come out, however it has been 6 years since the last Scream movie came out.  Darth Maul??  Seriously?  The guy was in about 10 scenes in a movie 7 years ago.  Clearly he is no Darth Vader, a cultural icon.  One kid came dressed as an Ipod, a lame Ipod mind you, but at least it was a creative idea.

I was pretty disappointed in the state of costumes, these kids need a little passion.  Check out this guy below, in possibly the greatest costume I've ever seen. Well next to the Home Wrecker costumes from Drew's Halloween party...

As a general rule I have little patience for separatism, and in this case I make no exception.  This 'lawyer' wants to get Team Quebec at the IIHF World Championship.

Quebec is a nation that has the right to be represented at international tournaments.

I must have missed when Quebec became a nation...

Wonder who would play for them?  I'm just reading Marin Brodeur's new biography and it's nice to see a professional athlete address topics like this.  Brodeur says he would play for a Team Quebec only if he had to.  If playing for the team was the only way he could play hockey than he would, otherwise he would play for his country (Canada).

An Amazingly Painful Weekend
# Tuesday, October 17, 2006

Well I just had an amazingly action packed weekend that has left me dead tired and VERY sore.  It all started on Friday night when Steph, Julia, Gord and myself went to see Wicked, which was probably one of the better musicals I've seen in a long time.  I highly recommend it.  Saturday I was up nice and early and off once again with Gord and Julia in tow to Kev's place in Waterloo for Oktoberfest.  Which was an amazing evening, big thanks to Kev and Mel for hosting once again.  Saturday night was a bit of a late night, and Sunday morning we were out the door by 10:30 and on our way to paintball.

This was the first time I've ever been paintballing, and man was it a great time.  I really wish I didn't have hockey as soon as I got home though.  I had a really hard time walking for the next week though.
